This site, sponsored by IBM, provides a virtual tour of the fabulous complex that is the Hermitage. However much time you allocate for a visit here– know in advance it will not be enough!
There are two small steps leading into the main entryway, and if you are in a wheelchair, you will need help entering the building. Since it is usually crowded, there are people around who, out of the goodness of their heart, will lift you up. Once inside, there are elevators to the floors above.
The Hermitage is one of the places where we strongly urge you to hire a guide for whatever period of time you plan to visit. Whether you go privately or with a small group, save money budgeting elsewhere and get guided, as there is too much for you to see here, using only a guidebook. It will be well worth the cost.
